Anxiety is a behavioral symptom which is a cause of stress experienced by an individual. Though stress is mostly associated with adults, children suffer from the effects of anxiety just as much as elders.
Anxiety and stress go hand in hand, with stress serving as the causative agent which causes a person to display signs of extreme anxiousness and worry, which in the long run starts to have a negative impact on their health. Anxiety in children can be caused by a number of factors which contribute to their constant stressed condition.
Children usually tend to feel anxious if they have experienced stressful situations in their life. It tends to prepare a mindset that always prompts them to expect the worst all the time, throughout any situation in life.
If there is a record of anxiety and stress in the family, children tend to inherit the traits from their parents and relatives, something which becomes a part of their natural behavior. Major life transitions like moving to a new school or a neighborhood as well as losing a dear one are also probable reasons for the development of anxiety in a child.
Children with a history of abuse are also vulnerable targets of anxiety. Another reason for anxiety in children is the environment of their surroundings and behavior of the people they live with. If there is a security problem in the vicinity the child might feel anxious. Moreover, if children live with elders who have a behavior pattern which promotes a fearful trend towards the world, then children learn the anxious behavioral trait and adopt it unconsciously.
The key to address the problem and prevent anxiety from developing into a serious problem in a child is to identify the apparent reason for the behavioral trait. Only then can the anxiety of a child be checked and reduced.
